I’m heading to Peru in a few days and I’ve been busy packing my bag. I’m doing carryon only for 12 days and wont’ have any laundry, so I had to be strategic with what I’m bringing. I prioritized room for meds because I’ve heard so many stories about people getting sick in Peru. You can see what I packed in my travel med kit here.
Clothing
Wool Tops

I prioritized wool because you can get away with wearing wool for several days before it starts to stink. I am bringing 3 of these wool tops for 12 days, so they will each be worn for 3-4 days each. I used to have several wool dresses that I LOVED, but alas, I have lost 50 pounds and they are like bags on me now. Wool is not cheap, but it will last for a long time. These tops are super comfy!
Alpaca Socks

The most important thing for any trip like this where you’ll be walking and hiking a lot, is thick, comfortable, natural, breathable socks! No polyester on your feet unless you want athletes foot. My mom owns alpacas and llamas and every year I get alpaca socks for Christmas and my birthday (they’re a few days apart so I’m never sure which one). They’re the BEST socks!! Alpaca is softer than wool, and I promise you’ll love them. I wear the small size. The patterns are also adorable!
Built in Bra Tank Top

This tank is super comfy, has a built in bra, and takes up almost no room. It does run small, so size up for sure.
Favorite Bras

I love these bras. They are so comfy. I’m bringing 3 of them and will sink wash them.
Matching Skirt Set

I wanted to bring something to wear to dinner, and just something that wasn’t sweats or leggings, but that wouldn’t take up too much space. This matching set is adorable, comfortable, and rolls up super small!
Rain Coat

I got this very cheap rain coat that I will probably throw away after I use. I didn’t want anything bulky or too hot for the rain forest.
Athletic Pants

These pants are super lightweight and take up hardly any space. I brought 2 pairs in purple and sage green. They run a tad small.
Vuori Dupes

I’m obsessed with these Vuori dupes. They are literally a quarter of the price of Vuori. I have one Vuori set that I love, and I promise these are just as good. They even have a little tag, and whenever I wear them, people ask me if they are Vuori. I have several colors and several different types of sets, but these are my favorites. Sweatpants and hoodie.
My Favorite Leggings

I’ve had my fair share of leggings and, let me tell you, THESE are IT! Better than Lulu or any name brand I’ve tried, and no front seam!! Try them, you won’t regret it!
Coat
I brought a warm jacket because nights will be chilly. I got mine at a thrift store. It’s vintage 1990s St. John’s Bay.
Other Things
Day Pack

I’ve had this day pack for probably 10 years. It packs down to the size of my fist and is very lightweight and sturdy. Just big enough to carry everything you need for a day trip!
Hanging Toiletry Bag

I have probably talked 50 people into buying this bag, but it’s totally worth it! It holds so much and you have a built in shelf wherever you travel! Keeps things organized and clean.
Flex Discs

These have seriously changed my life. If you haven’t tried them yet and you are menstruating, I highly recommend them! I’m mad that I haven’t had these for the last 30 years! I use one a day and I can’t feel them AT ALL!
Protein Bars

Traveling gluten free comes with its own stress, but bringing some protein with me just helps me ease my stress about it. Sometimes the only thing offered to me is bread! So I just like to have options. I really like these protein bars and they have 20g of protein. I also bring some meat sticks.
I hope this helps you if you’re packing for a trip to Peru!
