Lac de Parentis was once again, a random, unplanned find and it’s worth a return trip. Absolutely gorgeous and because it’s winter we had the resort and lake to ourselves.
We stayed a month at the Petit Logis, a gite on a small farm in western France. It was a fantastic stay with the right balance of country life with access to Saintes and La Rochelle.

Lake Achensee was a gorgeous, tranquil lake hidden in the Austrian Alps. Being summer the local village was quiet with few inhabitants, though the numerous ski resorts and lodges seemed anxious for the first snowfall.
