Worldwide Family – Suburban Nomad

Once a month I like to feature different families of all sorts from around the world who love to travel. I’ve met some truly amazing families online that will really inspire you to get out there and explore the world. This month I’d like to introduce you to Pernille from Forstadsnomade
I’ve followed Pernille, a Danish travel blogger for a while now. The pictures and stories of her nomadic life are fascinating!

“Hi! My name is Pernille.
Welcome to my suburban nomadic family life!

Travel is my passion and I breathe to keep exploring this amazing world and encourage others to do the same. I run the Danish travel blog “Forstadsnomade” (suburban nomad). My permanent base is in Denmark where my everyday life also revolves around travel. I write about it. I talk about it. I live it. Alongside travels and studies abroad, I have worked in the travel industry on/off for the past 15 years. Both at agencies in Denmark and with a scuba tank on my back in Egypt and Southeast Asia. I love a good adventure. To explorer both above and below the surface, and to experience places that I have not visited before – it gives me energy!

The suburban family life was not in the cards for me and considering my strong wanderlust, I feel extremely lucky to be part of a Danish family of four – with a 7 & a 3 year old. We use every chance (and dime) we get to live out our dreams of travel, adventure and new experiences in different cultures.
My husband shares my passion – and line of business. Therefore, our children are already little globetrotters and we are fortunate to have them explore the world with us! We took our son on his first overseas trip to Cuba when he was 7 month old and he has traveled with us several times a year ever since – mainly overseas but also in Europe.

Our daughter is officially a Key West Conch as she was born prematurely while travelling in Florida. As a result, she has both Danish and American citizenship. She spent the first six weeks of her life (as did we) in Miami Children’s Hospital and crossed The Atlantic (in her incubator) at the age of 6 weeks. So, I guess you can say that she was born into travelling.

We love exploring the world with our children. It gives us many unique experiences as a family. We get to spend a lot of time together in different and often unusual situations, which brings us even closer together. We get to show our children the world in all its beauty and contrast. Show them cultural differences and different ways of life. They learn that not everyone is as fortunate as they are and we truly believe that this is the best education they can get! But yes, they do go to school and kindergarten back home too 😉

My blog and social media accounts are places to explore and share the things that make me feel excited about life. A lot of scribbling about travelling the world with small children!
I write with the intention of preserving our memories and sharing our adventures. I hope you enjoy our stories too and that you are inspired to live out your own dreams. Whatever they may be. Perhaps through our experiences you may find inspiration or simply entertainment. It does not matter. The site is for me and others that wish to step out of their comfort zone to continue to grow, learn and live a passionate life.
Preferably including a lot of globetrotting with the entire family.

Bring your kids backpacking. They will love it!

Thanks for reading and happy trails!”

I am curious to find out what blog system you have been using? I’m having some small security issues with my latest website and I’d like to find something more secure. Do you have any suggestions?

I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own weblog and was curious what all is needed to get setup? I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I’m not very internet savvy so I’m not 100 sure. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Kudos
